
Paul S. Camnitz,
M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Camnitz attended the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill undergraduate school with
a double major in Chemistry and English. He then
went to Medical School and did his residency in
Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the
same institution, finishing in 1979.
He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National
Medical Honor Society and is also a fellow in
the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head
and Neck Surgery as well as the American College
of Surgeons.
He has served as Chief of Staff of Pitt County
Memorial Hospital, President of the Private Practice
Association, and is currently a member of the
Board of Trustees for Pitt County Memorial Hospital
and University Health Systems. He is a Clinical
Professor with the Brody School of Medicine of
East Carolina University, and currently
serves as the Head of
the Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck
Surgery for the School.
He has won the Outstanding Teaching Award from
the Medical School eleven times. Dr. Camnitz received
the Outstanding Professor Award from the Family
Medicine Department in 2004 as well as the Bernie
Vick Outstanding Professor from the Department
of Surgery in 2003. He has received the prestigious
Master Educator Award from the Brody School of
Medicine.
In April 2006, Dr. Camnitz was presented the
DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
AWARD from the Medical School
at UNC Chapel Hill .
Dr. Camnitz is currently a member of the North Carolina Medical Board, having started his commission in 2008.
